To start the Toro 724 38072, ensure the fuel valve is open, the choke is set to full, and the ignition key is inserted. Prime the engine by pressing the primer bulb 2-3 times, then pull the recoil starter or use the electric start if equipped.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the engine oil, inspecting and replacing the spark plug, cleaning or replacing the air filter, checking the auger for damage, and lubricating moving parts.
If the snow thrower won't start, check the fuel level and quality, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, verify the choke and throttle settings, and check for any blockages in the fuel line.
If the snow thrower is not throwing snow far enough, check for clogs in the discharge chute, ensure the auger is not worn or damaged, and make sure the engine is running at full throttle.
To adjust the skid shoes, loosen the mounting bolts, move the skid shoes to the desired height, typically allowing a 1/8-inch to 1/4-inch clearance between the scraper and the ground, then tighten the bolts securely.
If the auger stops rotating, check the auger drive belt for wear or damage, inspect the shear pins for breakage, and ensure the control cable is properly adjusted. Replace any damaged components as needed.
Change the oil after the first 2 hours of operation, then every 25 hours of use or at the beginning of each season. Use a high-quality 4-cycle engine oil.
To store the snow thrower, drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, remove the spark plug and add a teaspoon of oil into the cylinder, then pull the starter to distribute the oil. Store in a dry, covered area.
To replace the spark plug, first disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a socket wrench to remove the old spark plug, then install a new spark plug, ensuring it is properly gapped and tightened securely. Reconnect the spark plug wire.
Excessive vibration may be caused by loose parts, damaged augers, or worn bearings. Inspect the snow thrower for any loose bolts or damaged components and tighten or replace as necessary.
