Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than 10%.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then after every 50 hours of operation or at the beginning of each mowing season.
Remove the blade from the mower and use a file or grinding wheel to sharpen the cutting edge while maintaining the original angle. Balance the blade before reinstalling.
Turn off the mower and disconnect the spark plug. Use a garden hose to rinse the underside, and use a brush to remove any grass build-up.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, and inspect the air filter for blockages. If it still won't start, consider inspecting the carburetor or consulting a technician.
Locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel and move them to the desired position ensuring all four wheels are set to the same height.
Ensure the blade is sharp and balanced, check the mower's speed, and ensure the deck is clean and the cutting height is appropriately set.
Locate the air filter cover, remove it, and replace the old filter with a new one. Ensure the new filter is properly secured before replacing the cover.
Drain the fuel tank, change the oil, clean the mower thoroughly, inspect and sharpen the blade, and store the mower in a dry place.
Adjust the wheel height to accommodate the terrain, mow in a different direction each time, and keep the blade sharp for optimal performance.
