To start the Toro 522 38051 Snow Thrower, ensure it's on a level surface. Turn the fuel valve to the 'ON' position, set the choke to 'FULL', and insert the key. Pull the starter handle or use the electric start button if available. Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke to 'OFF'.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87. Avoid using ethanol blends with more than 10% ethanol. Always ensure the fuel is fresh and stabilized if stored for long periods.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then once every 25 hours of operation or at the start of each season, whichever comes first. Use SAE 5W-30 oil for best performance in cold weather.
Check the auger and impeller for blockages and ensure they are not worn out. Adjust the chute deflector to control the distance. If the problem persists, inspect the drive belt for wear and replace if necessary.
Regularly inspect the auger for damage or wear. Keep it clean and free from ice and debris. Lubricate the auger shaft annually with a light oil to prevent rust and ensure smooth operation.
Empty the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent deterioration. Clean the machine thoroughly, removing dirt, salt, and snow residue. Check and lubricate all moving parts. Store in a dry, covered area away from direct sunlight.
First, disconnect the spark plug. Remove the belt cover and take note of the belt routing. Slide the old belt off the pulleys and install the new one, ensuring it follows the original path. Reattach the belt cover and reconnect the spark plug.
The engine may run rough due to old or contaminated fuel, a dirty air filter, or fouled spark plug. Replace the fuel if it's old, clean or replace the air filter, and inspect the spark plug, replacing it if necessary.
To adjust the skid shoes, loosen the mounting nuts, and set the height according to the surface you are clearing. For paved surfaces, set them closer to the ground; for gravel, increase the clearance to avoid picking up stones. Tighten the nuts securely after adjustment.
Ensure the fuel tank is filled with fresh gasoline and the fuel valve is open. Check the spark plug for fouling or damage and clean or replace it if necessary. Make sure the ignition key is inserted and the choke is set properly.
