Toro 51950A Operator's Manual

To start the Toro 51950A Trimmer, ensure the fuel tank is filled, set the choke to the "Start" position, press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible, and then pull the starter rope briskly. Once the engine starts, move the choke to the "Run" position.
Use a fresh, clean, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Mix it with high-quality 2-cycle oil at a ratio of 50:1.
Clean the air filter every 10 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions. Remove the filter and wash it with warm, soapy water. Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
Ensure the line is properly wound and not tangled. Check for debris in the trimmer head and ensure the line is the correct size and type. If the issue persists, the trimmer head might need replacement.
To replace the trimmer line, first remove the spool from the trimmer head. Cut a length of line, insert it into the anchor hole, and wind it evenly onto the spool in the direction indicated. Reinstall the spool into the head.
The engine may stall due to a clogged air filter, incorrect fuel mixture, or carburetor issues. Clean or replace the air filter, ensure the fuel mixture is correct, and adjust the carburetor settings according to the manual.
To store the trimmer, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the trimmer thoroughly, inspect for damage, and store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight and corrosive materials.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting the spark plug and replacing it if necessary, cleaning the trimmer head, and ensuring the fuel mixture is correct.
To adjust the carburetor, locate the idle speed and mixture screws. Turn the idle screw clockwise to increase or counter-clockwise to decrease idle speed. Adjust the mixture screw to obtain smooth operation. Refer to the manual for specific settings.
Excessive vibration can be due to a damaged or unbalanced trimmer head, loose parts, or an improperly installed trimmer line. Inspect the trimmer head, ensure all parts are secure, and check the line installation.
