To start the Toro 50-cm 29643 Mower, ensure the fuel shut-off valve is open, the throttle is set to the "Choke" position, and the safety brake lever is engaged. Pull the starter rope firmly to start the engine.
If the mower does not start, check for sufficient fuel, ensure the spark plug is connected, and inspect the air filter for clogs. Additionally, make sure the safety brake lever is engaged.
To replace the mower blade, disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starting. Turn the mower on its side, use a wrench to remove the blade bolt, and replace the old blade with a new one, ensuring it is properly balanced and secured.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, sharpening or replacing the blade, and cleaning the mower deck.
The mower blade should be sharpened at least once per mowing season or whenever the grass appears torn or uneven after mowing.
Toro recommends using SAE 30 motor oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and 10W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C).
To improve mowing on uneven terrain, adjust the cutting height to a higher setting, mow more slowly, and overlap each pass slightly for better coverage.
For winter storage, run the mower until the fuel tank is empty, change the oil, clean the mower, and store it in a dry, sheltered area. Consider removing the battery if applicable.
It is not recommended to mow wet grass as it can cause clumping, leave uneven cuts, and potentially damage the mower. Wait until the grass is dry for optimal results.
Adjust the cutting height by moving the height adjustment lever on each wheel to the desired setting. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
