To start the Toro 50-cm 29642 Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the spark plug is connected, and the choke is engaged if the engine is cold. Pull the starter handle quickly and smoothly.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance.
Check if the fuel tank is empty, the spark plug is dirty or disconnected, or if the air filter is clogged. Ensure the fuel valve is open and the choke is set correctly.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, tip the mower on its side, and remove the blade. Use a file or a bench grinder to sharpen the blade, maintaining the original angle. Balance the blade before reinstalling.
Excessive vibration may be due to a damaged blade, loose hardware, or an unbalanced blade. Check and tighten all nuts and bolts, and inspect the blade for damage. Balance or replace the blade if necessary.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and wash it with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Replace if the filter is damaged.
Clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and empty the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer. Store the mower in a dry, covered area, and disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting.
Locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired cutting height position, ensuring all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting and sharpening the blade, checking tire pressure, and cleaning the mower deck.
