Ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Check that the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Pull the safety bar handle towards you and then pull the starter cord firmly.
Check the fuel level and ensure fresh fuel is used. Verify the spark plug is clean and properly connected. Also, inspect the air filter for clogs and clean or replace if necessary.
For optimal performance, change the oil after the first five hours of use, and then after every 50 hours of operation or at least once a season.
Use SAE 30 motor oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C).
Regularly inspect the blade for damage or dullness. Sharpen the blade at least once a season or after hitting hard objects. Always disconnect the spark plug wire before performing maintenance.
After use, tilt the mower and use a hose to remove grass clippings and debris from the deck. For stubborn buildup, use a brush and mild detergent. Ensure the mower is turned off and the spark plug is disconnected before cleaning.
Check if the wheels are set at the same height. Inspect the blade for sharpness and evenness. Also, ensure that the mower deck is free from debris and is level.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced or damaged blade. Inspect the blade for bends or damage and replace if necessary. Also, ensure that all bolts and fasteners are tight.
Before storing, clean the mower thoroughly and let it dry. Change the oil and remove any fuel from the tank. Store the mower in a dry, protected area. Disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting.
Check the drive cable for proper tension and adjust if necessary. Inspect the belt for wear and replace if damaged. Ensure the wheels are not obstructed by debris.
