Toro 5 HP 58170 Operator's Manual

To start the Toro 5 HP 58170 Tiller, ensure the fuel valve is open, set the choke to the start position, and pull the starter cord firmly. Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke to the run position.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 25 hours of operation or at the beginning of each tilling season.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and wash it with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly, let it dry completely, and apply a light coat of oil before reinstalling.
Adjust the tilling depth by moving the depth stake up or down. Raise it for deeper tilling and lower it for shallow tilling. Secure it in place with the locking pin.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and verify that the choke is in the correct position. If it still won't start, inspect the air filter and carburetor for blockages.
Regularly inspect the tines for wear and damage. Clean them after each use to remove soil and debris. Sharpen or replace them as needed to ensure efficient tilling.
To store the tiller for winter, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor. Clean the tiller, lubricate moving parts, and store it in a dry, sheltered area.
Wear protective eyewear, gloves, and sturdy footwear. Keep hands and feet away from moving parts, and never operate the tiller without all guards in place. Be aware of your surroundings to avoid obstacles.
Check if the tines are worn or damaged and replace them if necessary. Ensure the tiller is level during operation and adjust the depth stake for consistent tilling depth across your work area.
