To start the Toro 5 HP 57001 Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to 'choke' for a cold start, and the safety lever is engaged. Then, pull the starter cord briskly.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 25 hours of operation or at the start of each mowing season.
Check if there is fresh fuel in the tank, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and verify that the air filter is not clogged. Also, ensure the safety lever is engaged.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and clean it with soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
Disconnect the spark plug wire for safety, remove the blade, and use a sharpening tool to file the blade at its original angle. Balance the blade before reinstalling.
Locate the height adjustment levers near each wheel and move them to the desired position for uniform cutting height adjustment.
Check and clean the spark plug every 25 hours of use. Replace it if it's damaged or excessively worn to ensure optimal engine performance.
Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, clean the mower, and store it in a dry, sheltered location. Disconnect the battery if applicable.
Check for a damaged or unbalanced blade, ensure all bolts are tightened, and inspect for debris stuck in the mower deck. Correct any issues found.
