Ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Check that the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is correct. Pull the starter handle gently until resistance is felt, then pull it briskly.
Check if the blade is dull or damaged. Sharpen or replace the blade as necessary. Also, ensure the mower deck is clean and the wheels are adjusted to the same height.
Run the engine for a few minutes to warm up the oil, then turn it off. Remove the oil cap and tilt the mower to drain the oil into a suitable container. Refill with the recommended oil type and amount.
Regularly check and replace the air filter, change the oil, inspect and sharpen the blade, and clean the underside of the mower deck. Perform these tasks according to the user manual's schedule.
After each use, disconnect the spark plug wire, then use a hose to spray the underside of the deck. Scrape off any hardened grass clippings with a plastic scraper.
Use fresh unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol.
This could be due to old or contaminated fuel, a clogged air filter, or a dirty carburetor. Replace the fuel, clean or replace the air filter, and clean the carburetor.
Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer. Clean the mower thoroughly. Store it in a dry, sheltered area. Remove the battery if applicable and store it separately.
Locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move all levers to the desired position, ensuring they are set evenly for a uniform cut.
Check for stale fuel and replace it if necessary. Inspect the spark plug and clean or replace it. Ensure the air filter is clean and the battery is charged if applicable.
