To start the Toro 48-cm 20923B Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the mower is on a flat surface, and the blade control bar is engaged. Pull the starter handle firmly to start the engine.
Check the fuel level and refill if necessary. Ensure the spark plug is connected properly. Clean or replace the air filter if it is dirty. Make sure the blade control bar is engaged when pulling the starter handle.
It's recommended to change the oil after the first 5 hours of operation and then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and 10W-30 for varying temperature ranges, as specified in the user manual.
Disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Remove the blade by loosening the bolt that secures it. Use a file or a grinding wheel to sharpen the cutting edge evenly. Reinstall the blade securely.
Check if the blade is damaged or unbalanced. Inspect for loose bolts or nuts and tighten them. Examine the mower deck and clean any debris.
Locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel and move them to the desired height position. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for even cutting.
Drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Change the oil and remove the battery if applicable. Clean the mower deck and store in a dry place.
Disconnect the spark plug wire. Tilt the mower on its side with the air filter and carburetor facing up. Use a garden hose or scraper to remove grass clippings and debris.
Check if the blade is dull and needs sharpening. Ensure the cutting height is set correctly and the grass is not too wet or too long for a single pass.
