To start the Toro 46-cm 20945 Mower, ensure that the mower is on a flat surface. Press the primer bulb three times, pull the starter handle slowly until you feel resistance, then pull sharply to start the engine.
If the mower won't start, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel is fresh. Make sure the spark plug is connected and in good condition. Clean or replace the air filter, and check for any blockages in the fuel line.
The oil should be changed after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 25 hours or at least once per mowing season. Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance.
To clean the mower deck, turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug. Tilt the mower carefully to access the deck. Use a garden hose to remove grass clippings and debris. Dry the deck thoroughly to prevent rust.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position to raise or lower the cutting height. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Excessive vibration can be caused by a damaged blade or loose hardware. Stop the mower, disconnect the spark plug, and inspect the blade for damage. Tighten any loose bolts and replace the blade if necessary.
To replace the spark plug, first disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug. Install the new spark plug by threading it in by hand, then tighten it with the wrench. Reconnect the spark plug wire.
Before storing the mower for winter, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and remove any fuel from the tank or add a fuel stabilizer. Store the mower in a dry, covered area to protect it from the elements.
To improve cutting performance, ensure the blade is sharp and balanced. Adjust the mower speed to suit the grass conditions and mow when the grass is dry. Regularly clean the mower deck to prevent buildup of clippings.
If the mower stalls, check for any blockages in the mower deck and ensure the air filter is clean. Examine the spark plug and fuel line for issues. Restart the mower following the standard procedure.
