To start the Toro 39688 Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open and the throttle is set to 'choke'. Pull the starter rope briskly until the engine starts, then move the throttle to 'run'.
Check the spark plug for fouling, ensure fresh fuel is in the tank, and verify that the air filter is clean. Replace any faulty parts and try starting again.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Use SAE 30 weight oil for best performance.
Remove the blade and secure it in a vise. Sharpen with a file or grinder, maintaining the original angle of the blade edge. Balance the blade before reinstalling it.
Ensure the blades are sharp, mow with the engine at full throttle, and overlap each pass slightly. Adjust the cutting height according to the grass conditions.
Check for debris lodged in the mower deck, ensure the blade is balanced, and inspect for bent blades or worn parts. Replace or repair as necessary.
Use a garden hose to wash off grass and debris from the mower deck. Ensure the mower is turned off and cooled down before cleaning. Dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
Drain fuel or add a stabilizer, change the oil, clean the mower thoroughly, and store in a dry, covered area. Disconnect the battery if applicable.
Locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position to raise or lower the cutting height uniformly.
Ensure the tire pressure is equal on all tires, check that the mower deck is level, and inspect the blades for sharpness or damage. Adjust or replace as needed.
