Toro 38696 Operator's Manual

To start the Toro 38696 Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to 'fast', and the choke is engaged if the engine is cold. Pull the starter grip lightly until you feel resistance, then pull briskly.
Check the fuel level and make sure the fuel valve is open. Ensure the spark plug wire is connected. If it still doesn't start, inspect the air filter and spark plug for cleanliness and replace if necessary.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours or at the beginning of each mowing season, whichever comes first.
Use SAE 30 motor oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and 10W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C). Ensure the oil is API service classification SJ or higher.
Check if the tire pressure is even on all tires. Inspect the mower deck for any obstructions or damage. Ensure the blades are sharp and installed correctly.
Regularly check the air filter, oil, and blades. Change the oil and filter every 50 hours, sharpen blades as needed, and inspect belts and cables for wear. Clean the mower deck after each use.
Ensure the engine is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected. Use a hose to spray off grass clippings and debris. Scrape off any remaining buildup with a plastic scraper.
Check for debris lodged in the blades or under the deck. Inspect the blades for damage or imbalance. Ensure all bolts and nuts are tightened properly.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old spark plug, and install a new one. Ensure the gap is set to 0.030 inches (0.76 mm) before installation.
Check if the air filter is clean and the fuel is fresh. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace it if necessary. Ensure the engine cooling fins are not clogged.
