To start the Toro 38682 Mower, ensure that the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Set the throttle to the 'fast' position, engage the choke if necessary, and pull the starter handle firmly.
Check the fuel level and ensure it is fresh. Inspect the spark plug connection and clean or replace the spark plug if needed. Verify that the fuel valve is open and the air filter is clean.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Use SAE 30 or 10W-30 oil for optimal performance.
Remove the mower blades and secure them in a vice. Use a metal file or grinding wheel to sharpen the blade edge, maintaining the original angle. Balance the blades before reinstalling.
Ensure the blades are sharp and balanced. Mow only when the grass is dry and adjust the cutting height appropriately for the grass type. Clean the deck regularly to prevent grass build-up.
Before storing, run the engine until it stops to ensure the fuel system is empty. Change the oil, clean the mower deck, and remove the spark plug. Store in a dry place.
Toro recommends using unleaded gasoline with an ethanol content no greater than 10%. Avoid using E85 or other high-ethanol fuels to prevent engine damage.
Check for debris lodged in the mower deck or around the blade. Inspect the blade for damage or imbalance. Tighten any loose hardware on the mower.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. Wash it with warm, soapy water and allow it to dry completely. Reinstall the filter and secure the cover.
Ensure the mower blades are sharp and properly installed. Check that the deck is level and not tilted. Mow at a slower speed and overlap your mowing paths slightly.
