Toro 3 HP 58013 Operator's Manual

To start the Toro 3 HP 58013 Tiller, ensure it is on a flat surface, switch the fuel valve to "ON," set the choke lever to "CHOKE" if the engine is cold, and pull the starter rope briskly until the engine starts. Once started, move the choke lever to "RUN."
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting and replacing the spark plug, and ensuring all nuts and bolts are tight. Additionally, lubricate moving parts and check the tines for wear.
If the engine won't start, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel valve is on. Inspect the spark plug for fouling and replace if necessary. Verify that the choke is set correctly, and ensure the air filter is clean. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
To store the tiller, clean it thoroughly and drain the fuel tank to prevent stale fuel from damaging the engine. Store it in a dry place, and cover it to protect from dust and moisture. Remove the spark plug and add a few drops of oil to the cylinder, then pull the starter rope to distribute the oil.
Adjust the depth stake located at the rear of the tiller to change the tilling depth. For deeper tilling, raise the stake, and for shallower tilling, lower it. Ensure it is securely locked in place before operation.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 40°F (4°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 40°F. Always check the oil level before use and change it according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
Excessive vibration could be due to loose parts, worn tines, or an unbalanced engine. Inspect the tiller for loose bolts and tighten them. Check the tines for damage and replace if necessary. If the problem persists, have the engine inspected by a professional.
It is recommended to check the air filter before each use and clean or replace it every 25 hours of operation or at least once a season. A clean filter ensures optimal engine performance.
If the tiller stalls, check for fuel blockages or an empty tank. Inspect the air filter and spark plug for dirt or damage. Allow the engine to cool before restarting, and adjust the choke accordingly.
To prevent rust, clean the tiller after each use, removing all dirt and debris. Store it in a dry place and apply a light coat of oil or a rust preventative spray on metal parts. Regular maintenance will prolong the life of the tiller.
