To start the Toro 25.4cc 51948 Power Head, ensure the fuel tank is filled and the switch is in the 'on' position. Prime the engine by pressing the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible. Set the choke lever to 'full choke' and pull the starter rope briskly until the engine attempts to start. Move the choke lever to 'half choke' and pull again until the engine starts. Once running, set the choke to 'run'.
Use fresh, clean, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 and mix it with high-quality 2-cycle oil at a ratio of 50:1. Avoid using ethanol-blended fuels greater than 10%.
To clean the air filter, remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. Wash it with warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and let it dry completely. Once dry, lightly oil the filter with fresh 2-cycle oil and reinstall it. Secure the air filter cover back in place.
If the Power Head won't start, check for common issues such as an empty fuel tank, incorrect choke setting, or a clogged air filter. Inspect the spark plug for fouling and replace it if necessary. Additionally, ensure the fuel is fresh and properly mixed.
It is recommended to inspect and, if necessary, replace the spark plug every 100 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. Ensure you use the correct type of spark plug as specified in the user manual.
To adjust the idle speed, locate the idle speed adjustment screw near the carburetor. Turn the screw clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it. Adjust until the engine runs smoothly without stalling.
The Toro 25.4cc 51948 Power Head is compatible with various attachments, including string trimmers, edgers, hedge trimmers, and pole saws. Ensure the attachment is designed for use with the power head to guarantee proper fit and function.
For off-season storage, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to drain the carburetor. Clean the unit thoroughly, removing any dirt or debris. Store it in a dry, sheltered location away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
To replace the trimmer line, remove the spool from the trimmer head. Cut a length of line according to the user manual, and wind it evenly onto the spool. Reattach the spool to the trimmer head, ensuring the line is properly threaded through the eyelets.
Excessive vibration may be caused by imbalanced attachments or loose components. Check for damaged or improperly installed attachments, and tighten any loose screws or bolts. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
