To start the Toro 21-inch SP 16212W Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the key is inserted and turned to the 'ON' position, and the throttle is set correctly. Pull the starter rope briskly to start the engine.
If the mower doesn't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected properly, and inspect the air filter for clogs. If the problem persists, consult the manual or contact customer support.
It is recommended to change the oil after the first 5 hours of use and then every 25 hours of operation or at least once per mowing season. Always use the oil type specified in the owner's manual.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 and no more than 10% ethanol content. Avoid using old or stale fuel to prevent engine issues.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position to set the mower to the preferred cutting height.
If the mower cuts unevenly, check the blade for sharpness and balance. Also, ensure the wheels are set to the same height and inspect for any obstruction under the deck.
To clean the mower deck, ensure the engine is off and cool. Use a garden hose to spray underneath the deck, or gently scrape off grass buildup with a plastic scraper.
To improve mulching performance, ensure the blade is sharp and the deck is clean. Mow when the grass is dry and avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass height in a single pass.
At the end of the mowing season, change the oil, clean or replace the air filter, inspect the spark plug, and remove fuel from the tank or add a fuel stabilizer. Store the mower in a dry place.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, and install a new one by hand until snug, then tighten with the wrench. Reconnect the spark plug wire.
