To start the Toro 21-inch SP 16212 mower, first ensure that the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Pull the safety bar towards the handle and then pull the starter cord briskly.
If the mower does not start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected properly, and verify the air filter is clean. If these are fine, consult the user manual for further troubleshooting steps.
It is recommended to change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 25 hours of operation or at least once per mowing season.
To clean the mower deck, ensure the mower is turned off and cool. Tilt the mower on its side with the air filter facing up. Use a brush or hose to remove grass clippings and debris.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position for a higher or lower cut. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height.
The blade should be inspected for damage and sharpness at least once per season. Sharpen or replace the blade as necessary to ensure a clean cut. Always disconnect the spark plug before performing blade maintenance.
Uneven cutting can be caused by a dull blade, incorrect wheel height settings, or a clogged deck. Ensure the blade is sharp, all wheels are set to the same height, and the deck is free of debris.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
To store the mower for winter, empty the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry, sheltered area. Disconnect the spark plug wire and remove the battery if applicable.
Check the drive belt and cables for wear or damage. Adjust the cable tension if necessary. If the problem persists, consult the user manual or contact a professional service technician.
