To start the Toro 21-inch SD 16410 Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to 'choke' for a cold start, and the safety lever is engaged. Then, pull the starter handle firmly.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, and the air filter is clean. If the problem persists, inspect the ignition system and consider replacing the spark plug.
Regularly inspect the blade for dullness or damage. Sharpen the blade every 20-25 hours of use or as needed, ensuring it is balanced to prevent vibration.
After each use, disconnect the spark plug wire, tip the mower on its side, and use a hose to remove grass clippings and debris from the deck. Ensure the mower is dry before storing.
To adjust the cutting height, use the height adjustment levers located on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired height position, ensuring all wheels are set equally.
Use a high-quality SAE 30 detergent oil for temperatures above 40°F (4°C) or SAE 10W-30 for a wider temperature range. Check the oil level before each use.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of operation, then every 50 hours or once per season. Ensure the engine is warm before draining for efficient removal of impurities.
Excessive vibration may indicate a damaged or unbalanced blade. Inspect the blade for damage, balance it if necessary, or replace it if it’s damaged.
Ensure the cutting height is appropriately set for the type of terrain. Consider slowing down the mowing speed and overlapping passes to handle uneven areas effectively.
For offseason storage, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and remove the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer. Store the mower in a dry, sheltered area to prevent rust and damage.
