To start the Toro 21-inch HP 16585 Mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled, the oil level is adequate, and the spark plug is connected. Pull the starter handle firmly while holding down the safety bar.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using ethanol blends greater than 10%.
Sharpen the mower blade every 25 hours of use or at least once per mowing season to ensure optimal cutting performance.
Use SAE 30 motor oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C).
Check the fuel level and quality, ensure the spark plug is connected and clean, and verify the air filter is not clogged. If issues persist, consult the user manual or a professional technician.
Adjust the cutting height by moving the wheel height adjustment levers located on each wheel. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height position.
Regularly check and change the oil, clean or replace the air filter, inspect and replace the spark plug annually, and keep the mower blade sharp.
Disconnect the spark plug, tip the mower on its side, and use a hose to remove grass clippings from the deck. Avoid using sharp objects to prevent damage.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced or damaged blade, loose bolts, or engine issues. Inspect and balance the blade and tighten any loose components.
Empty the fuel tank, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and store it in a dry, protected area. Consider removing the battery if applicable.
