Ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Check that the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is correct. Press the primer bulb three times, hold the safety bar against the handle, and pull the starter rope briskly to start the engine.
Check the fuel level and make sure it is fresh. Inspect the spark plug for any damage or wear and clean or replace it if necessary. Ensure the air filter is clean and not clogged. Verify all safety features are engaged correctly.
Regularly inspect the blade for sharpness and damage. Sharpen the blade at least once a season or after hitting a hard object. Replace the blade if it's bent or excessively worn. Always disconnect the spark plug wire before performing maintenance.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use for a new mower, then every 25-50 hours of operation or at least once a season. Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance.
Stop the engine immediately and disconnect the spark plug wire. Inspect the blade for damage or imbalance and check if it is securely fastened. If the vibration persists, consult a professional technician.
After turning off the engine and disconnecting the spark plug wire, use a garden hose to rinse off grass clippings and debris from the undercarriage. Avoid using a pressure washer, which can damage components. Allow the mower to dry thoroughly before storage.
Clean the mower thoroughly and drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer. Change the oil and remove the spark plug, adding a few drops of oil into the cylinder before reinserting it. Store the mower in a dry, sheltered area.
Locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position to adjust the cutting height. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Check the drive cable for proper tension and adjust if necessary. Inspect the belt for wear or damage and replace it if needed. Ensure the drive wheels are not obstructed by debris.
Regularly maintain the engine, including changing the oil, air filter, and spark plug as needed. Keep the blade sharp and adjust the cutting height appropriately for the grass conditions. Avoid mowing wet grass to prevent engine strain.
