Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Ensure that the fuel contains no more than 10% ethanol to prevent engine damage.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 25 hours of operation or at least once a mowing season.
To start the mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the engine switch is on, and the throttle is set to the choke position. Pull the starter handle briskly.
To sharpen the blade, remove it from the mower, secure it in a vice, and use a file or sharpening stone to maintain the original angle of the cutting edge. Balance the blade before reinstalling.
To winterize, drain the fuel system, change the oil, clean the mower deck, and store the mower in a dry place. Consider adding a fuel stabilizer if not draining the fuel.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected and clean, inspect the air filter, and verify that the safety features are not engaged.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level before each use, cleaning the air filter every 25 hours, and inspecting the blade for damage.
Adjust the cutting height by using the height adjustment levers located on each wheel. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Excessive vibration can be caused by a damaged or unbalanced blade. Inspect the blade for damage and ensure it is properly balanced and secured.
To clean the mower deck, remove grass clippings and debris with a brush or hose. Avoid using high-pressure water, which can damage components.
