Ensure the mower is on a flat surface, the fuel tank is filled, and the oil level is adequate. Pull the starter handle slowly until resistance is felt, then pull quickly to start the engine.
Check the fuel level and ensure the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for fouling and clean or replace it if necessary. Also, ensure the air filter is clean.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first.
Locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move each lever to the desired position to set the cutting height. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol.
Disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starting. Remove the blade and use a file or blade sharpener to sharpen the cutting edges evenly. Reinstall the blade securely.
Excessive vibration can be caused by a damaged or unbalanced blade. Inspect the blade for damage and replace if necessary. Ensure the blade is secured tightly to the mower.
Ensure the grass bag is properly attached and not clogged. Mow when the grass is dry, and adjust the cutting height to avoid overloading the bag.
Empty the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer. Clean the mower, and check for any damage. Change the oil and store the mower in a dry, protected area.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and clean it with warm soapy water if it's a foam filter. Let it dry completely before reinstalling. Replace paper filters if they are dirty.
