To start the Toro 22189 Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, set the choke to the correct position, and pull the starter rope with a firm, steady motion.
After each use, remove grass clippings and debris from the mower deck using a brush or a gentle hose spray. Ensure the mower is turned off and cool before cleaning.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Use SAE 30 or 10W-30 oil for best performance.
Check the fuel level, spark plug, and air filter. Ensure the fuel valve is open and the kill switch is not engaged. Inspect the starter rope for damage.
To adjust the cutting height, use the height adjustment levers located on each wheel. Set all four wheels to the same height to ensure an even cut.
Regular tasks include checking and cleaning the air filter, changing the oil, inspecting the spark plug, and sharpening the mower blade.
Remove the blade from the mower, clamp it in a vice, and use a metal file or sharpening tool to hone the cutting edge evenly. Balance the blade before reinstalling.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content.
To winterize, drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, clean the mower, and store it in a dry, sheltered area.
Check for debris lodged in the mower deck, inspect the blade for damage or imbalance, and ensure all fasteners are tight. Consider professional servicing if the issue persists.
