Toro 21-inch 22042 Operator's Manual

To start the Toro 21-inch 22042 mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to 'choke' if the engine is cold, and pull the starter cord firmly.
Use SAE 30 or 10W-30 detergent oil for optimal performance, ensuring it meets the API service classification SJ or higher.
The mower blade should be sharpened at least once a season, or more frequently if you notice uneven cutting.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, and verify that the air filter is clean. If problems persist, inspect the fuel line and carburetor.
After each use, disconnect the spark plug wire, tilt the mower, and use a brush or hose to remove grass clippings and debris from the deck.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced blade, loose engine mounting bolts, or debris lodged in the blade area. Check and resolve these issues.
Ensure the grass bag is empty, the underside of the mower is clean, and the blade is sharp. Adjust the cutting height to suit the lawn conditions.
Check for tall or wet grass that can stall the mower. Raise the cutting height, clear the deck of clippings, and ensure the air filter is clean.
Drain the fuel, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry place. Disconnect the battery if applicable and cover the mower to prevent dust accumulation.
The air filter should be checked every 25 operating hours and replaced if it appears dirty. In dusty conditions, check it more frequently.
