To start the Toro 21-inch 20765 Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, set the choke to the 'on' position if the engine is cold, and pull the starter handle briskly. Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke to the 'off' position.
Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance in temperatures above 32°F (0°C). For temperatures below 32°F (0°C), use SAE 5W-30 oil. Ensure the oil level is checked regularly and maintained at the proper level.
Sharpen the mower blade at least once a year or more frequently if you notice uneven cutting or if the blade encounters rocks or debris. A sharp blade ensures a clean cut and promotes lawn health.
If the mower won't start, check the fuel level and ensure fresh fuel is used. Verify that the spark plug is clean and properly connected. Additionally, check the air filter for dirt and replace if necessary.
After use, allow the engine to cool, then use a hose to rinse the underside of the mower deck. Avoid spraying water directly on the engine. Dry the mower thoroughly to prevent rust and store it in a dry place.
Adjust the cutting height by using the height adjustment levers located on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired notch corresponding to the cutting height you prefer. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
At the end of the mowing season, change the oil, clean or replace the air filter, inspect and sharpen the blade, and drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer. Store the mower in a dry, sheltered location.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, and install a new plug with the correct gap setting. Reattach the spark plug wire securely.
Excessive vibration may be caused by an unbalanced or damaged blade. Stop the mower, disconnect the spark plug, and inspect the blade. If damaged, replace it; if unbalanced, sharpen and balance the blade.
To improve fuel efficiency, regularly clean or replace the air filter, ensure the spark plug is in good condition, and maintain a sharp blade. Avoid mowing wet grass, as it can increase engine load and fuel consumption.
