To start the Toro 21-inch 20735 Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to 'fast', and the blade control bar is engaged. Then, pull the recoil starter handle briskly.
Check the fuel level and add fresh gas if needed. Inspect the spark plug and replace it if it is dirty or damaged. Make sure the air filter is clean and the carburetor is not clogged.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use and then every 25 hours or at the beginning of each season. Use SAE 30 oil for best results.
Check the air filter every 25 hours of use. Clean it by tapping it gently to remove dirt, or replace it if it is excessively dirty or damaged.
Remove the blade by securing the mower and using a wrench to take off the bolt. Sharpen the blade with a file or a grinder, ensuring to maintain the blade's balance. Reinstall securely.
Check for a damaged or unbalanced blade. Tighten any loose bolts or fasteners. If the problem persists, inspect the engine mounting bolts and wheels for damage.
With the engine off and cool, use a garden hose to rinse off grass clippings and debris. For stubborn dirt, use a brush and mild detergent. Ensure the mower is dry before storing.
Keep the blade sharp and balanced, set the cutting height appropriately, and mow when the grass is dry. Regularly check and maintain the engine and wheels.
Drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer, remove the spark plug, and store the mower in a clean, dry place. Cover it to prevent dust accumulation.
Locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move them to the desired position to set the cutting height evenly across all wheels.
