To start the mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to 'choke' for a cold start, or 'fast' for a warm start. Pull the starter handle firmly until the engine begins running.
Use SAE 30 motor oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C). Always refer to the owner's manual for specific recommendations.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use and then every 50 hours of operation or at least once a year.
Check if the fuel tank is filled, the spark plug is connected, and the air filter is clean. Ensure the throttle is set correctly and the fuel valve is open. If these are in order, consult the manual or a professional for further assistance.
Remove the spark plug wire, tilt the mower, and secure the blade. Use a file or a grinding wheel to sharpen the blade, maintaining the original angle. Balance the blade before reinstalling it.
Disconnect the spark plug wire and tip the mower on its side, ensuring the air filter and carburetor are facing up. Use a garden hose to rinse away grass clippings and debris. Allow it to dry before using again.
Check for a damaged or unbalanced blade, loose engine mounting bolts, or debris lodged in the mower. Repair or replace parts as necessary.
Locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired cutting height position, ensuring all wheels are set to the same level.
Regularly change the oil, clean the air filter, sharpen the blade, and inspect for any loose or damaged parts. Store the mower in a dry, sheltered location when not in use.
Drain the fuel tank or add fuel stabilizer, change the oil, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry area. Disconnect the spark plug for added safety.
