To start the Toro 21-inch 20622 mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to the choke position if the engine is cold, and the blade control bar is engaged. Then, pull the starter handle to start the engine.
Toro recommends using SAE 30 or SAE 10W-30 oil for the 20622 mower. Be sure to check the oil level before each use and change the oil after every 25 hours of operation.
If the mower does not start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, and verify that the air filter is clean. Additionally, make sure the safety features are properly engaged.
To clean the deck, first disconnect the spark plug wire. Then, use a garden hose to rinse off grass clippings and debris. For a thorough clean, use a brush and mild detergent. Ensure the deck is dry before storing.
Sharpen the mower blade after every 20-25 hours of use or at least once per mowing season to ensure a clean cut and maintain lawn health.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced blade or loose parts. Check that the blade is sharp and balanced and inspect the mower for any loose hardware. Tighten or replace parts as needed.
To change the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire and use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug. Install a new plug, ensuring it is properly gapped according to the specifications, and reconnect the wire.
If the mower does not cut evenly, check the blade for sharpness and balance. Ensure the deck is level and adjust the wheels to the same height. Inspect for any obstructions under the deck.
To winterize the mower, drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, clean the deck, and remove the battery if applicable. Store the mower in a dry, sheltered area.
Regular maintenance such as cleaning the deck, sharpening the blade, changing the oil, and ensuring proper tire inflation can significantly improve mower performance.
