To start the Toro 2 HP 58411 Edger, ensure the fuel tank is filled and the unit is on a stable surface. Move the choke lever to the 'start' position, press the primer bulb several times until you see fuel, and then pull the starter rope firmly. Once started, move the choke lever to the 'run' position.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
The edger blade should be inspected regularly for wear or damage. Replace the blade when it becomes dull or damaged to ensure optimal performance. Typically, this may be needed after 25-50 hours of use, depending on the conditions.
If the edger won't start, check the fuel level and quality, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and make sure the air filter is clean. Additionally, verify that the choke lever is in the correct position for starting.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting and replacing the spark plug annually, lubricating the pivot points, and checking the blade for wear. Ensure to follow the user manual for detailed maintenance schedules.
To adjust the cutting depth, locate the depth adjustment knob near the blade guard. Turn the knob to raise or lower the blade to the desired depth. Ensure the edger is off and the blade has stopped moving before making adjustments.
Excessive vibration can be caused by a damaged blade, loose parts, or debris stuck in the blade area. Inspect the blade for damage, tighten any loose parts, and clear any debris. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
To store the edger during the off-season, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor. Clean the edger, including the blade and air filter, and store it in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight.
It is not recommended to use the edger on wet grass as it can lead to clogging and potential engine strain. Wait until the grass is dry to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Always wear protective eyewear, gloves, and sturdy footwear while operating the edger. Ensure the area is clear of debris and bystanders, and never operate the edger when tired or under the influence of substances. Follow all safety guidelines in the user manual.
