To start the Toro 17-inch 51956 Trimmer, ensure the switch is in the 'Off' position. Insert the battery, then press and hold the trigger to start the trimmer.
The Toro 51956 Trimmer is designed to use 0.080-inch diameter line. Always use the recommended line to ensure optimal performance.
To replace the line, remove the spool cap, take out the old line, and insert new line into the spool. Wind it evenly, leaving about 6 inches unwound for each side, then reattach the cap.
If the trimmer stops unexpectedly, check the battery charge, ensure the line is not tangled, and confirm that the safety switch is not engaged.
To extend battery life, charge the battery fully before use, avoid storing it in extreme temperatures, and use the trimmer in short bursts rather than continuously.
After use, remove the battery and clean the trimmer with a soft brush or cloth to remove debris. Avoid using water directly on the motor or electrical parts.
Regular maintenance includes checking the line for damage, cleaning the trimmer after each use, and inspecting the battery for wear. Replace any damaged parts as needed.
For off-season storage, clean the trimmer thoroughly, remove the battery, and store both in a cool, dry place. Ensure the battery is charged to about 50% before storing.
If the line keeps breaking, check for obstructions or sharp objects in the trimming area, ensure you are using the correct line size, and inspect the spool for damage.
To adjust the cutting head angle, locate the adjustment lever or button on the trimmer head. Depress it while adjusting the head to the desired angle, and release it to lock the position.
