To assemble the Toro 12-inch 51486 Trimmer, attach the handle to the main shaft, ensuring the locking tabs click into place. Then, attach the guard by aligning it with the mounting holes and securing it with the provided screws.
Use a 0.065-inch diameter monofilament line for optimal performance with the Toro 51486 Trimmer.
To replace the line, remove the cap by pressing the tabs on the side. Remove any remaining line and spool a new line onto the spool, following the directional arrows. Reattach the cap securely.
Regular maintenance includes checking and replacing the trimmer line as needed, cleaning the trimmer after each use, and inspecting for any loose bolts or parts monthly.
Ensure the battery is fully charged and properly connected. Check for any debris blocking the motor or line. If the issue persists, consult the user manual or contact customer support.
To extend battery life, store the battery in a cool, dry place and avoid full discharges before recharging. Regularly clean the battery contacts and avoid overcharging.
Check for any sharp objects or surfaces that might be damaging the line. Ensure the line is properly installed and not too short. Consider using a higher quality line if the problem persists.
To adjust the handle height, loosen the adjustment knob located on the shaft, slide the handle to the desired position, and then tighten the knob to secure it.
Always wear eye protection and long pants. Keep bystanders and pets away from the working area, and never use the trimmer in wet conditions to avoid electrical hazards.
Clean the trimmer thoroughly, remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Hang the trimmer in a garage or shed to keep it off the ground and away from moisture.
