To start the Toro 10-inch 58601 Cultivator, ensure the unit is on a flat surface. Press the primer bulb three times, set the choke lever to the start position, and pull the starter handle briskly. Once it starts, move the choke to the run position.
Use clean, fresh unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then after every 25 hours of operation or at the start of each season, whichever comes first.
If the cultivator stalls, check the fuel level and ensure the air filter is clean. Inspect the spark plug for damage or wear, and clean or replace it as necessary. Make sure the choke is in the correct position.
To adjust the tilling depth, move the depth stake to the desired position. Lower the stake for deeper tilling and raise it for shallower tilling. Ensure it is securely locked in place.
Check the air filter every 5 hours of use and clean or replace as needed. Inspect and clean the spark plug every 25 hours. Regularly check the tine condition, and sharpen or replace if necessary.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. Wash it with warm, soapy water and allow it to dry completely. Reinstall the filter and secure the cover.
Check for loose or damaged parts, particularly the tines and mounting hardware. Tighten any loose bolts and replace damaged components. Ensure the tines are balanced and not bent.
Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer. Clean the cultivator thoroughly and inspect for any damaged parts. Store it in a dry, sheltered location, away from direct sunlight and corrosive materials.
Always wear protective eyewear, gloves, and sturdy footwear. Keep bystanders and pets away from the working area. Avoid operating on slippery or uneven terrain, and never leave the cultivator unattended while running.
