The recommended oil type for the Subaru DY27-2 engine is SAE 10W-30 for general use and SAE 5W-30 for colder climates.
It is recommended to change the oil every 100 hours of operation or at least once a year, whichever comes first.
To adjust the valve clearance, ensure the engine is cool, remove the valve cover, and use a feeler gauge to set the intake and exhaust valve clearances to the specifications in the service manual.
Check the battery charge, inspect the fuel system for blockages, examine the air filter, and ensure the spark plug is functioning correctly.
To change the air filter, remove the air filter cover, take out the old filter, and replace it with a new one that matches the specifications. Ensure the cover is securely fastened after replacement.
Inspect all fuel lines and connections for signs of wear or damage. Look for wet spots, fuel odors, or drips, and replace any faulty components immediately.
Stop the engine immediately, allow it to cool down, check the coolant level, and inspect the radiator and hoses for blockages or leaks.
Perform regular oil changes, keep the air filter clean, check the fuel system, inspect belts and hoses, and follow the maintenance schedule outlined in the owner's manual.
Signs of a faulty spark plug include difficulty starting the engine, rough idling, loss of power, and increased fuel consumption.
Drain the fuel tank, change the oil, clean the engine thoroughly, disconnect the battery, and store the engine in a dry, well-ventilated area.
