To set up the Skil 3320-01 Drill Press, begin by assembling the base, column, table, and head according to the instructions in the user manual. Ensure all screws are tightened securely. Adjust the table height and angle as needed for your project.
If the motor does not start, check that the drill press is plugged in properly and that the power switch is on. Verify that the circuit breaker has not tripped. Inspect the power cord for damage and replace it if necessary.
To change the speed, adjust the belt position on the pulleys. First, ensure the drill press is turned off and unplugged. Open the pulley cover, loosen the tension lock knob, and shift the belt to the desired pulley configuration. Tighten the tension lock knob before closing the cover.
Regular maintenance includes checking and tightening all bolts and screws, lubricating moving parts, and cleaning the drill press to remove dust and debris. Inspect the belt for wear and replace it if it shows signs of damage.
To align the table, loosen the table lock and adjust the table to the desired angle using a protractor or square. Once aligned, tighten the table lock securely to hold the position.
If a drill bit gets stuck, turn off the drill press immediately. Carefully reverse the bit manually or use pliers to gently work it out of the material. Ensure the material is properly secured before resuming work.
To improve accuracy, ensure the material is clamped securely and use a center punch to mark the drilling spot. Adjust the speed according to the material and use sharp, high-quality bits.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced bit, loose components, or improper belt tension. Check that the bit is properly installed and balanced, tighten any loose parts, and verify the belt tension is correct.
To replace the belt, turn off and unplug the drill press. Open the pulley cover, loosen the tension lock knob, and remove the old belt. Install the new belt by placing it over the desired pulley configuration. Tighten the tension lock knob and close the cover.
Always wear safety goggles and hearing protection. Avoid loose clothing and jewelry. Ensure the work area is clean and well-lit. Never leave the drill press running unattended, and always unplug it before making adjustments or changing accessories.
