Ensure the tractor is on a level surface, the PTO is disengaged, and the parking brake is set. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the start position. Hold until the engine starts, then release.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than E10 to prevent engine damage.
Change the oil every 50 hours of operation or at the beginning of each season, whichever comes first. Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance.
Check the battery connections for corrosion, ensure the fuel level is adequate, and inspect the spark plug for wear or damage. Replace components as necessary.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, remove the mower deck, and secure the blade. Use a file or grinder to sharpen the blade's edge evenly, then balance it before reinstallation.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever on the tractor's side. Move the lever to the desired position to raise or lower the mower deck accordingly.
Stop the engine immediately. Check for obstructions in the air intake and cooling fins. Allow the engine to cool, then inspect and clean these areas as needed.
Keep the battery terminals clean and free of corrosion. Check the electrolyte levels regularly and top off with distilled water if necessary. Store the battery in a cool, dry place during the off-season.
Consult the operator's manual for the specific tire pressure recommendations. Generally, the front tires should be inflated to 14 PSI and the rear tires to 10 PSI.
Park the tractor on a flat surface and remove the mower deck. Release the belt tensioner and remove the old belt. Install the new belt, ensuring it is properly seated in the pulleys, then re-tension and reattach the mower deck.
