To descale your kettle, fill it with a mixture of half water and half white vinegar. Let it sit for an hour, then boil the solution. Empty the kettle, rinse thoroughly, and boil fresh water to remove any remaining residue.
Check if the kettle is securely plugged into the outlet and that the power switch is in the "on" position. Ensure that the lid is closed properly, as some models have a safety feature that prevents operation if the lid is open.
It is not recommended to boil liquids other than water, as this can damage the kettle and affect its performance. Always use the kettle as intended to ensure longevity.
To clean the exterior, wipe it with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can scratch the surface. Dry with a soft cloth to maintain its appearance.
Ensure the kettle is completely dry before storing. Coil the cord around the base and store it in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight to prevent any damage.
Some noise is normal as the water heats, but if you hear loud or unusual sounds, it could indicate limescale buildup. Descale the kettle regularly to prevent this issue.
Regularly descale the kettle using a vinegar solution or a commercial descaler. Also, use filtered water if possible, as it contains fewer minerals that cause limescale.
While it is safe to leave water in the kettle, it is recommended to empty it after each use to prevent limescale buildup and maintain the freshness of the boiled water.
If the kettle boils dry, unplug it immediately and allow it to cool down before refilling with cold water. Most kettles have an automatic shut-off feature to prevent damage when this happens.
Descale your kettle every 1 to 3 months, depending on the hardness of your water. More frequent descaling may be necessary in areas with very hard water.
