McCulloch MT 260 CLS Operator's Manual

To start the McCulloch MT 260 CLS Trimmer, ensure the trimmer is on a flat surface. Move the choke lever to the choke position, press the primer bulb 6 times, and pull the starter rope briskly until the engine fires. Then, move the choke lever to the run position and pull the rope again until the engine starts.
The McCulloch MT 260 CLS Trimmer requires a fuel mixture of unleaded petrol and high-quality 2-stroke engine oil in a ratio of 40:1. Always use fresh fuel and mix it thoroughly before filling the tank.
To replace the trimmer line, first turn off the trimmer and disconnect the spark plug. Remove the spool cap, take out any remaining line, and insert a new 2.4mm diameter line into the spool. Wind the line evenly and secure it in the notches. Reattach the spool cap securely.
If the trimmer does not start, check if there is sufficient fuel and it is properly mixed. Ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected. Inspect the air filter for clogs and clean it if necessary. Check the choke and primer bulb settings, and ensure the kill switch is in the 'on' position.
To clean the air filter, remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. Wash it with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and let it air dry completely before reinstalling. Ensure the filter is dry to prevent engine damage.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, checking the fuel lines for leaks, and cleaning the trimmer head. Regularly inspect the cutting attachments and ensure all nuts and bolts are tight.
To prevent the trimmer line from breaking, avoid contact with hard surfaces like rocks and concrete. Use the trimmer at the recommended speed and ensure the line is not too short. Regularly inspect and replace the line when worn.
For storage, clean the trimmer thoroughly and remove any grass or debris. Empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor. Store the trimmer in a dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and moisture.
To adjust the idle speed, locate the idle speed screw on the carburetor. Turn the screw clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it. Adjust until the engine runs smoothly without the trimmer head rotating.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced cutting attachment or loose parts. Check that the cutting head is properly installed and balanced. Tighten any loose screws or bolts, and inspect the drive shaft for damage.
