To start the McCulloch M185-107T, ensure that the parking brake is engaged, the blades are disengaged, and the throttle is set to the choke position. Turn the ignition key clockwise to start the engine. Once the engine starts, move the throttle to the desired speed setting.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87. Avoid using E15 or E85 fuels, as these can damage the engine.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the cutting height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position, ensuring all four wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
If the mower does not start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected properly, and make sure the battery is charged. Additionally, verify that the parking brake is engaged and the blades are disengaged.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 50 hours of operation or at the beginning of each mowing season.
Use SAE 30 oil for general use. If operating in temperatures below 40°F, consider using SAE 5W-30 for better performance.
To improve cutting performance, ensure the blades are sharp and clean. Regularly clean the underside of the mower deck to prevent grass buildup. Adjust the cutting height to match grass conditions.
Keep the battery terminals clean and free from corrosion. Charge the battery during the off-season and store it in a cool, dry place to prolong its lifespan.
If the blades do not engage, check the blade engagement cable for damage or disconnection. Ensure the battery is charged and the engine is running at full throttle. If issues persist, consult the user manual or a professional technician.
Before storing for winter, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and remove the battery. Store it in a dry, sheltered location. Consider using a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation.
