To start the McCulloch M145-97TC, first ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Engage the parking brake, set the throttle to the choke position, and insert the key into the ignition. Turn the key to the start position until the engine begins, then release it.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 for optimal performance. Avoid using gasoline containing more than 10% ethanol.
Ensure the fuel tank is filled and the fuel is fresh. Check the spark plug for damage and replace if necessary. Verify that the battery is charged and connections are secure. Also, make sure the safety features are properly engaged.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of operation, then every 50 hours or at the start of each mowing season. Use SAE 30 oil for the best results.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever near the wheels. Move the lever to the desired position, ensuring all wheels are set to the same height for even mowing.
First, disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Remove the blade by loosening the bolt securing it to the mower. Use a grinder or file to sharpen the blade edges evenly. Reattach the blade securely before use.
Check for debris lodged in the blades or under the deck. Inspect the blade for damage or imbalance, and ensure it is properly tightened. If the issue persists, examine the engine mounting bolts and tighten them as needed.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. If it's a foam filter, wash it with mild detergent and water, then let it dry. For paper filters, gently tap it to remove dirt or replace it if heavily soiled. Reinstall the filter and cover.
Drain the fuel or add a stabilizer to prevent degradation. Change the oil and clean or replace the air filter. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Sharpen the blades and lubricate moving parts to prevent rust.
Clean the mower thoroughly, removing grass and debris. Store it in a dry, sheltered area. Cover the mower to protect it from dust and moisture. Ensure the battery is removed and stored separately.
