To start the McCulloch B28 P brushcutter, ensure the machine is on a flat surface. Turn the stop switch to 'I' position. Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible, set the choke to full, and pull the starter handle until the engine fires. Adjust the choke and restart if necessary.
Use a fresh unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 90 mixed with a high-quality 2-stroke engine oil at a 40:1 ratio. Ensure the fuel is well mixed before refueling.
The air filter should be checked and cleaned every 5 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions. Wash the filter in warm soapy water, rinse, and let it dry before reinstalling.
Check the fuel for contamination or incorrect mixture. Inspect the air filter for dirt and clean it. Ensure the spark plug is not fouled and properly gapped. Additionally, check the fuel lines for cracks or leaks.
To replace the trimmer line, first ensure the brushcutter is off and cool. Remove the spool cap and take out any remaining line. Cut a new line of appropriate length, thread it through the spool holes, and wind it evenly before securing and replacing the cap.
Excessive vibration may be due to a damaged or improperly installed cutting attachment. Check for damage or wear, and ensure all attachments are properly balanced and secured. Tighten any loose parts.
To store the brushcutter for winter, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the machine thoroughly, including the air filter and cutting attachments. Store it in a dry, cool place, and cover it to protect from dust.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting and replacing the spark plug as needed, checking fuel lines for leaks, and ensuring the cutting attachments are sharp and balanced.
For a brushcutter that won't start, check the fuel level and ensure the proper fuel mixture. Inspect the spark plug for fouling, and clean or replace it if necessary. Verify that the choke is set correctly and that the air filter is clean.
Always wear protective gear including goggles, gloves, and hearing protection. Ensure that the area is clear of bystanders and debris. Be aware of your surroundings, and do not operate the brushcutter near flammable materials.
