To update the software, first download the latest software update file from the Lowrance website. Save it to a microSD card. Insert the card into the device's card slot and power on the unit. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.
Ensure that the power cable is securely connected and the battery is charged. Check the fuse and replace it if necessary. If the problem persists, contact Lowrance support for further assistance.
The sonar display shows the water depth, temperature, and fish arches. Fish are typically represented as arches due to the sonar waves passing over them. Use the Fish ID feature for easier interpretation of fish symbols.
Adjust the sensitivity to a level where the screen is not cluttered with noise, usually around 60-80%. Set the frequency to 200 kHz for shallow waters and 83 kHz for deeper waters. Use Auto mode for optimal settings based on conditions.
To save a waypoint, press the waypoint button on the device. You can then edit the name and add any notes. Confirm the entry to save it. Access saved waypoints through the waypoints menu.
Ensure the device has a clear view of the sky. Check that the GPS antenna is connected properly. Perform a GPS reset from the settings menu if necessary. It may take a few minutes for the first lock after a reset.
Clean the screen with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals. Regularly check the cables and connectors for corrosion. Store the unit in a dry place when not in use to prevent moisture damage.
Mount the transducer on the transom of the boat, ensuring it is parallel to the waterline and below the water surface when the boat is on plane. Avoid mounting near propellers or turbulence sources.
Check for proper transducer placement and ensure it's clean. Verify the sonar settings, like frequency and sensitivity. If the problem continues, inspect the cable for damage and replace it if needed.
It's recommended to use a compatible Lowrance transducer for optimal performance. If you choose a different brand, ensure it matches the specifications required by the Hook Reveal 7.
