Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting the blades for sharpness, and checking tire pressure. Refer to the owner's manual for detailed instructions and service intervals.
If your mower won't start, check the battery connections for corrosion, ensure the fuel tank is filled with fresh gasoline, and inspect the spark plugs for fouling. Also, make sure the safety switches are engaged properly.
Adjust the cutting height by using the deck lift lever located on the mower. Refer to the manual for the height settings, and make sure the mower is on a level surface before making adjustments.
Use SAE 10W-30 oil for general purposes, but refer to the owner's manual for specific recommendations based on your climate and operating conditions.
Uneven cutting may be due to a dull blade, an improperly leveled mower deck, or tire pressure inconsistencies. Check these areas first and adjust as necessary.
The recommended tire pressure is typically around 12-15 psi for the front tires and 6-8 psi for the rear tires. Always check the sidewall of the tire or the manual for exact specifications.
To replace the blades, ensure the mower is off and the key is removed. Raise the deck to access the blades, use a wrench to remove the blade bolts, and replace the old blades with new ones. Make sure the blades are installed in the correct direction.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades, loose components, or engine issues. Check for damage or wear on the blades and ensure all bolts and screws are tightened properly.
To clean the air filter, remove the filter cover, take out the filter, and gently tap it to remove dust and debris. If it's too dirty, consider replacing it. Refer to the manual for specific cleaning intervals.
Before storing for winter, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, empty the fuel tank or add a stabilizer, and check all components for wear or damage. Store in a dry, covered location.
