The recommended maintenance schedule includes daily checks of engine oil, coolant, air filter, and hydraulic fluid levels, as well as greasing all pivot points. Additionally, perform a more thorough inspection every 250 hours, including changing engine oil and filter, hydraulic oil filter, and checking the track tension.
To adjust track tension, lift the machine off the ground using the boom and blade. Loosen the grease valve slightly to release tension, then use a grease gun to add grease and adjust tension. The correct sag should be about 20-30 mm (0.8-1.2 inches) when measured from the track frame.
Check the battery connections and charge, inspect the fuel level and quality, ensure the safety lock lever is in the neutral position, and check the starter motor and ignition switch for faults. If problems persist, consult the operator's manual or a professional technician.
To improve fuel efficiency, ensure regular maintenance, use the correct engine oil, avoid excessive idling, and operate the machine at optimal engine speed. Properly maintaining the hydraulic system and keeping the air filters clean also helps enhance fuel efficiency.
Check the hydraulic fluid level and top it off if necessary. Inspect hydraulic hoses and connections for leaks or blockages, and ensure the hydraulic filter is clean. If the issue persists, consider consulting a qualified technician to inspect the hydraulic pump and valves.
Conduct a walk-around inspection checking for visible leaks, damage, and loose parts. Check fluid levels, including engine oil, coolant, and hydraulic fluid. Inspect the tracks for wear and proper tension, and verify the functionality of lights and indicators.
In cold weather, ensure the engine and hydraulic fluids are appropriate for low temperatures. Allow the engine to warm up before operating, check battery charge, and use block heaters if available. Also, inspect the undercarriage for ice build-up and remove any debris.
Secure the excavator on a trailer using chains and binders, ensuring that the machine is centered and balanced. Lower the boom and blade to the trailer deck, lock the safety lever, and check that all tie-down points are secure before transporting.
To change the engine oil, run the engine until warm, then turn it off. Remove the oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain completely. Replace the oil filter, reinstall the drain plug, and refill with the recommended oil type and amount. Ensure correct oil level with the dipstick.
Calibrating control levers typically requires professional service, but ensure regular maintenance and inspection of linkage and hydraulic connections. Follow the manufacturer's manual for any minor adjustments or contact a certified technician for complex calibration.
