The Kubota U17-3 Excavator typically requires a high-performance anti-wear hydraulic oil, such as Kubota's own Super UDT2 or any equivalent that meets ISO VG46 specifications.
Perform a basic maintenance check by inspecting the hydraulic fluid levels, engine oil, coolant, air filters, and fuel system. Ensure all bolts are tight and the tracks are in good condition. Regularly lubricate all pivot points as well.
Check the battery connections, ensure there is sufficient fuel, inspect the starter motor, and verify that the safety lock lever is in the correct position. Also, check the fuses and look for any error codes on the display.
The engine oil should typically be changed every 250 hours of operation or at least once a year, whichever comes first. Always use oil that meets the manufacturer's specifications.
To adjust track tension, lift the side of the excavator using the boom and place it on a stable support. Loosen the track tensioner grease fitting to release tension, then add or remove grease to adjust the tension until the track sag is within the recommended range.
To replace the air filter, open the engine compartment, locate the air filter housing, and remove the cover. Take out the old filter, clean the housing, and install a new filter. Ensure the cover is securely fastened after replacement.
If the hydraulic system is overheating, check for clogged coolers or filters, ensure there is sufficient hydraulic fluid, and inspect for any leaks. Make sure the cooling fan is operating correctly and clean any debris from the radiator.
Regular maintenance, proper operation within the recommended parameters, keeping the machine clean, and storing it in a sheltered location can help extend its lifespan. Additionally, follow the manufacturer's service intervals and use quality replacement parts.
Use ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel (ULSD) that meets the ASTM D975 specifications for the Kubota U17-3 to ensure optimal engine performance and longevity.
To bleed the fuel system, first ensure the fuel tank is filled. Loosen the air bleed bolt on the fuel filter and pump the manual feed pump until fuel flows without air bubbles. Tighten the bolt once the system is bled.
