Ensure the tractor is on a stable surface. Align the hole digger's 3-point hitch with the tractor's hitch. Secure all pins and fasteners, and attach the PTO shaft, ensuring it's locked in place.
Regularly check and tighten bolts and nuts. Grease the auger shaft and inspect the cutting edges for wear, sharpening or replacing as needed.
Check if the auger is properly aligned and not bent. Ensure that the tractor is level on the ground. Adjust the top link of the 3-point hitch if necessary.
Use an auger with carbide-tipped teeth for rocky conditions. Operate at a slower speed to allow the auger to break through tough soil gradually.
Always wear appropriate PPE, such as gloves and safety glasses. Keep bystanders away from the work area, and never operate the digger without the PTO shield in place.
Lower the implement to the ground, turn off the tractor engine, and disconnect the PTO shaft. Remove the bolt at the auger attachment point, then attach the new auger and secure it with the bolt.
Stop the tractor and inspect the PTO shaft for alignment issues or damage. Check for proper lubrication and ensure all connections are secure.
Check if the auger blades are dull or damaged. Ensure the downforce spring is properly adjusted and the tractor's hydraulic settings are correct for optimal performance.
Lubricate all moving parts, including the PTO shaft and auger drive, every 10 hours of operation or as specified in the user manual.
Clean the digger thoroughly to remove dirt and debris. Lubricate all moving parts and store the unit in a dry, sheltered location to prevent rust and corrosion.
