To check the hydraulic fluid level, ensure the excavator is on level ground. Locate the hydraulic tank, remove the cap, and use the dipstick attached to the cap to check the fluid level. Ensure it is between the minimum and maximum marks.
The recommended maintenance schedule includes daily checks such as fluid levels and visual inspections, weekly checks like air filter cleaning, and more comprehensive inspections and servicing at 250, 500, and 1000-hour intervals, as detailed in the owner's manual.
If the engine does not start, check the battery connections and charge, ensure there is enough fuel, and inspect the fuel shut-off valve. Also, check the starter motor and ignition switch for faults.
To replace the air filter, open the engine cover, locate the air filter housing, and remove the cover. Take out the old filter and install a new one, ensuring it is properly seated. Replace the cover securely.
To adjust track tension, lift the track off the ground, loosen the tensioning bolt, and use a grease gun to add grease to the tension cylinder until the track achieves the desired tension. Tighten the bolt once adjustment is complete.
If overheating occurs, check the coolant level and top it off if necessary. Inspect the radiator for blockages and clean it if needed. Ensure the fan belt is in good condition and functioning properly.
Regularly check hydraulic fluid levels and inspect hoses and connections for leaks or damage. Perform a functional check of all hydraulic controls to ensure smooth operation and listen for unusual noises that could indicate issues.
Before operation, perform a walk-around inspection to check for loose bolts or damaged parts, ensure all guards are in place, verify fluid levels, and test the functionality of lights and alarms.
To replace the fuel filter, shut off the engine and let it cool. Locate the fuel filter, remove the old filter by loosening the clamps, and install the new filter by reversing the process. Ensure the clamps are tight to prevent leaks.
For long-term storage, clean the excavator thoroughly, perform all necessary maintenance, lubricate moving parts, drain any water from the fuel system, and disconnect the battery. Store in a dry, sheltered location.
