The recommended oil type for the Kohler EKT730 engine is SAE 10W-30 for general use. For temperatures below 32°F (0°C), use SAE 5W-30.
The oil should be changed after the first 5 hours of operation, and then every 100 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first.
To clean the air filter, remove the cover, take out the air filter element, and gently tap it to remove loose dirt. If heavily soiled, wash it with warm soapy water, rinse, and let it dry completely before reinstallation.
Start by checking the fuel level and quality, ensuring the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and verifying that the air filter is not clogged. If the problem persists, inspect the battery and connections.
To winterize, drain the fuel system or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, remove and store the battery in a cool, dry place, and clean the engine's exterior to prevent rust.
To adjust the idle speed, locate the idle speed screw on the carburetor, and turn it clockwise to increase the speed or counterclockwise to decrease it, ensuring the engine runs smoothly without stalling.
The recommended spark plug for the Kohler EKT730 engine is a Champion RC12YC or equivalent, with a gap setting of 0.030 inch (0.76 mm).
To clean the carburetor, turn off the fuel valve, remove the carburetor from the engine, disassemble it, clean all parts with carburetor cleaner, and reassemble before reinstalling on the engine.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level before each use, changing the oil every 100 hours, cleaning the air filter every 25 hours, and inspecting the spark plug annually.
To replace the fuel filter, first ensure the engine is cool, then clamp the fuel line, remove the old filter, and install a new one in the correct flow direction, securing it with hose clamps.
