The recommended oil type for the Kohler CV682 engine is 10W-30 for general use. For temperatures above 32°F, you can use SAE 30.
The air filter should be inspected every 100 hours of operation and replaced if it appears dirty or damaged.
The spark plug gap for the Kohler CV682 engine should be set to 0.030 inches (0.76 mm).
First, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel is fresh. Verify that the spark plug is in good condition and properly gapped. Check for a clean air filter and confirm that all safety switches are engaged.
The valve clearance for the Kohler CV682 engine should be set to 0.004-0.006 inches (0.10-0.15 mm) for both intake and exhaust valves.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then turn it off. Remove the oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug and refill with fresh oil.
Ensure the cooling fins are clean and unobstructed. Check the oil level and quality, and make sure that the engine is not overloaded.
Regular maintenance such as changing the air filter, maintaining proper tire pressure in equipment, and tuning the engine can improve fuel efficiency.
For long-term storage, drain the fuel system, change the oil, and remove the spark plug to add a few drops of engine oil to the cylinder. Rotate the engine a few times and replace the spark plug.
To adjust the governor, loosen the governor lever nut, push the governor lever to the wide-open throttle position, and turn the governor shaft counter-clockwise to its stop. Tighten the nut to secure the lever.
